Speech Therapy
Beacon Day School's Speech Therapy program focuses on helping students improve their verbal, nonverbal, and social communication. The overall goal is to help students communicate in more useful and functional ways.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy (OT) promotes health and well-being by enabling students to participate in the activities of everyday life. Beacon Day School offers OT services to assist students with fine motor, gross motor, and sensory integration deficits in order to facilitate and support the student in participating in academic and educational programs as well as family life. Occupational therapy services are delivered through assessments, and the individual, consultation, collaboration model with the focus on functional skills.
We are committed to improving our students' quality of life by creating a vibrant learning community.
Physical Therapy (PT)
Physical therapy (PT) services are offered to students who have a disability that interferes with their educational performance and ability to benefit from their education program; and delivered through assessments, individual consultation, and collaboration model.
Adapted Physical Education (APE)
Our creative and individualized APE program promotes physical activity, encourages play, engages students in teamwork, enhances social interaction, and supports cognitive functioning through regular exercise designed to support our students’ overall wellness.
Counseling
The School Counselor works with students, families, BDS faculty and staff to help ensure all BDS students achieve their highest potential in terms of personal and social growth, academics, and career development. The counselor is a member of the Safety Team helping to de-escalate emotional situations.
